About

Shelagh Stewart began painting and exhibiting large canvasses of hard-edged images during the 1960’s in Great Britain, 1970’s in the U.S./Canada, which was then interrupted by a teaching career spanning more than 30 years. She began with teaching at the University of Georgia (painting and art history) then moving on to the University of Western Ontario (colour theory). For 27 years Shelagh taught fashion and editorial illustration at Ryerson University’s School of Fashion; always with pencil or brush in hand.  She has now returned to her Cobourg studio full time where she paints and illustrates images inspired by fashion garments and accessories.
